Infrared IR Inspection
Infrared Thermography, Thermal Imaging, Thermal Video are all examples of infrared imaging. Infrared is also commonly known as "IR".
Thermal imaging cameras detect radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum (roughly 9000–14,000 nanometers or 9–14 µm) and produce images of that radiation, called thermograms. When viewed through a thermal imaging camera, warm objects stand out well against cooler backgrounds.
In the electrical industry, Infrared or Thermography Inspections are used to detect thermal hot spots, which are typically caused by unbalanced or overloaded electrical circuits, loose connections, or broken equipment. These conditions are often overlooked or can't be seen during routine evaluations of facilities.
